How to lower your energy bill

-
Use a power strip for a main turn off point for computers, video games, and electronics when not in use.
-
Using the fireplace actually draws warm air out of the house and out the chimney, and is not considered the best way to warm the house. Use glass doors or close the mesh netting to help the warm air from escaping out of the chimney when using.
-
Setting the thermostat at 68-70 degrees is the most efficient temperature when using your heat. Your home will automatically be programmed to run at this setting, but please feel free to adjust to your comfort level. If you need help adjusting please call our office.
-
Make sure all your windows are closed when using the AC or heat.
-
If your home is one of our North Carolina homes then it has a Emergency heat/Auxillary heat setting. Never run heat on this setting. If you raise your heat by more than 3 degrees it will trigger the Emergency heat to run instead of regular heat. Therefore, if you set your temp to go lower when you are away only lower it by 3 degrees. Another option is to just leave at a constant setting when in heat mode.

Do you have a stinky drain? Add 1 cup hydrogen peroxide and let sit for 15 min to overnight. Drains will be odor free!
